Garter Belt
Garter Belts
A garter belt (or suspender belt, in British English) is a belt worn at the waist or high hip with four adjustable straps that clip to the tops of stockings, holding them up. It's the traditional way to wear stockings without hold-up bands or built-in silicone grip — the stockings themselves stay entirely smooth up the leg, held in place by the belt rather than by band pressure.
The practical case: hold-up stockings have silicone bands that can dig into the thigh through a long day. Garter belts eliminate that entirely — the stocking is held up by the belt, so the thigh stays comfortable. For dressier wear (evening events, weddings), the smooth line up the leg without a visible band edge reads more considered.
Our garter belt collection covers lace styles (the most common — lace band with four adjustable clips), silk and satin styles (usually as part of coordinated sets), and specialized bridal versions in ivory and white.
The construction detail that matters: the clips themselves. Cheap clips slip or come undone. Well-made clips (metal frame, functional grip mechanism) hold securely through hours of wear. Ours use metal clips with proper mechanisms.
The band width also matters. A wider belt sits more securely at the waist without slipping down; narrower belts sit at the high hip. Both work — the choice depends on the outfit and your preference.
Garter belts work with any stocking that isn't a hold-up — regular knee-highs, thigh-highs without silicone bands, sheer or opaque, patterned or plain.
